What does it do?

When a Base Shield is active (not destroyed) on either a Static or Space Construct, players can park their dynamic constructs inside to provide protection!

How does it work?

When a dynamic construct is inside the shield (or within the appropriate meters from the building box), it gains invulnerability for as long as it is not piloted (Pilot Seat, Remote or Gunner Seats) or the base shield gets destroyed.

Putting a Base Shield into lockdown does not affect dynamic construct protection so the shield must be destroyed in order to attack any ships under protection.

When a Base Shield is immune, ships are protected. Immunity (time after the shield regenerates after leaving combat lock) on Settlers is 1 Hour.

What are the limitations?

The size of the core determines the size of the base shield. Your construct must be mostly if not fully inside the shield bubble for it to be effective. Protection/Shield Hitbox is calculated from the centre of the ship (not the core).

Players who have shot any weapon also have a 10 minute cooldown period (same time as combat lock) before their ship is invulnerable inside a base shield.

Calculations

Protection is calculated based on the centre of the building box in meters. This table illustrates roughly how protection is calculated based on ship distance from the centre of the building box.

Core Size Meters of Protection
XS 16m
S 32m
M 64m
L 128m
