Element Swapping Tool

The element swapping tool allows you to swap out elements that are installed on a ship.

Restrictions - Elements That Cannot Be Swapped

Elements that are completely broken or damaged cannot be swapped.
Containers with items or fuel still stored cannot be swapped.
Normal Atmo Engines and Counterphase Atmo Engines cannot be swapped with each other.
WarpDrives and WarpDrive Cores cannot be swapped with each other.
Screens cannot be swapped with another variant (due to removal of Lua).
Programming Boards cannot be swapped (Lua removed).
Mining Units cannot be swapped due to possible exploits. </aside>

Elements with lives lost cannot:

Pilot Seats can be swapped, but Lua scripts will be reset.
Industry Units can be swapped if they are not running (this includes pending or idle maintain states).
- Swapping will reset the recipe.
Links between elements should be preserved (some issues have been fixed; some features are still disabled). </aside>

Elements that lost a life but are at full health can be swapped with a variant off the same element that has full lives.

Equip the Deploy Element Tool.
Press Lua Option 29 to activate the swapping mode.
Select the Element in quick access menu.
Click the source element you want to swap.
Swapped elements will maintain connections where possible, but Lua scripts will be lost on some elements.

You can assign Alt + [key] of your choice in settings -> controls -> lua -> *Lua Option 29 to make the element yellow before swapping.
